“…The thing that the students need, above everything else, is a voice. For years, The Buccaneer Bulletin has been that voice…”

Editorial, May 2008

Who We Are:

We are Buccaneers.

We are athletes, musicians, and dancers. We bag groceries, serve food, and work hard.We volunteer, doing beyond what is needed to make our community a better place. We balance a job, extracurricular activites, and challenging classes, and still manage to produce an award-winning paper.

We are journalists, photographers, artists, and businessmen.

We are students of Journalism I (Fall semester) and Journalism II (Spring semester) who have been taught by Mr. Mike McCrobie and Mr. Bill Reeser on ways of writing style, interview etiquette, photography and layout.

We use Adobe Photoshop CS3 to design and create graphics.  We use Adobe InDesign Cs3 to layout our papers. We publish about once a month, printing being done by The Palladium-Times.

Staff members have been award-winning writers, artists, and photgraphers. We are among the best high school newspapers in CNY, having won numerous gold awards from the Empire State School Press Associtation and at High School Press Day, with awards presented by The Post-Standard and the S.I. Newhouse School of Communication at Syracuse University, one of the premier journalism schools in the United States. Students have also attended School Press Institute, a summer program for aspiring journalists, held at Syracuse University.

Alumni have gone on to varied careers after attending some of the finest colleges and universities.
